How to Turn on the New modern, refreshed look for the Model-Driven apps?

Microsoft has released the Modern and Refreshed look for the Model-driven apps as part of 2023 Release Wave 2 and it is generally available for all the regions. This new look provides updated styling including fonts, colors, borders, shadows, and more that align to the latest Microsoft Fluent design system.

In the article, will explain the steps to Turn On and show the features of this Refreshed Look in Model Driven Apps.

Pre-Requisites:

Click on the below article link and create a Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome Profile.
Create a Profile in Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome
Click on the below article link to create Power Apps Trial 30 days or if you have already have an Powers Apps Tenant, skip this step.
Create Microsoft Power Apps 30 days Online Trial Version

Follow the below steps after Pre-Requisites.

Step 1: Click here to Open Power Apps Maker Portal in the new browser profile, created in the Prerequisites.

Step 2: Click on the Environment and Choose the required Environment.

Step 3: Click on Apps.

Step 4: Hover on the required App and Click on Play.

Step 5: Click on Try the new look to Turn On.

Step 6: Click on Switch to the new look.

Getting things ready…

Application will be reloaded, and you can see that the New look is Turned On.

New look features:

Command bar: The floating command bar aligns with the Microsoft 365 experience, with consistent spacing, rounded corners, and elevation.

View pages: View pages use the new command bar and have updated grid areas, and this uses the Power Apps grid control, which is having infinite scrolling for modern browsing experience.

The same grids appear in the Sub grids, Associated grids in the Main forms and Dashboard.

Form Pages: Form pages use the new command bar and have refreshed headers, tabs, sections, and business process flows. Quick views, card forms, headers, sitemaps, and timeline controls also feature updating styling.

Field Controls: Field controls such as text input, action input, lookup, and check box controls are built and designed using Fluent components. More field controls will be modernized using Fluent design in future updates.

Field sections, which are containers for the fields on a form, have a more streamlined design. Icons have been moved to the right side of field labels.

Dashboards: By default, in the Dashboard, grids it will not show the Power Apps Grid Control. You need to change the default grid control to Power Apps Grid Control using Form Control setting.

Limitations:

This feature has the below limitations:

The mobile app and mail app don’t support the modern, refreshed look and aren’t part of the preview or general availability.
With this new look, Power Apps is moving away from the classic theme customizations. While the colors for the app header can now be customized to match your personal or organization branding, other theme customization options aren’t yet available.

Note: Thoroughly test your application after enabling this feature in lower environments and proceed to Higher environments.
