How to Enable the Modern Controls (Preview feature) in the Canvas Apps?

Modern controls are the new set of controls that are designed by Microsoft, and they are quicker and simpler for makers to configure. These Modern controls gives the end user a great experience.

Modern controls are designed with a focus on accessibility, usability, and performance that makes them visually appealing, highly functional, and intuitive to use.

In this article, will explain the process to enable the Modern Controls (Preview feature) in the Canvas Apps.

Pre-Requisites:

  1. Click on the below article link and create a Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome Profile.

  2. Click on the below article link and follow till Step 15 to create Power Apps Trial.

Follow the below steps after Pre-Requisites.

Step 1: Click on Environments and Click on New in the Power Platform admin center.

Step 2: Provide Name, Region as Preview (United States), Type as Trial and Click on Save.

Environment creation is in progress.

Preview environment has been created.

Step 3: Copy and Paste the below link to Navigate to Power Apps Maker Portal in the new browser Tab.

Step 4: Click on the Environment and Click on the required Environment.

Step 5: Click on Blank app.

Step 6: Click on Create to create the Blank canvas app.

Step 7: Provide the App name, Choose the Format and Click on Create.

Canvas app is loading.

Step 8: Click on Skip.

Step 9: Click on the Settings.

Step 10: Click on the Upcoming features.

Step 11: Search for modern controls in the Upcoming features search bar.

You will see the Try out the modern controls Preview features.

Step 12: Turn on this feature and Click on X to close this popup.

Step 13: Click on Save.

Save is in progress.

Once it is successfully Saved, you can see that Save button will be disabled. Refresh the browser Tab.

Step 14: Click on Insert and Under the Modern controls section you can see all the latest controls and start using them in this Canvas app.

If you do not see this controls, then do the Hard Refresh.

Note: This modern controls only can be seen for the Preview (United States) Environments for now.
