Microsoft has recently released the Canvas Offline experimental feature for mobile applications on iOS, Android and Windows devices.
With this feature, you can easily enable the Dataverse-centric canvas Power Apps for offline scenarios, without using the Power Fx SaveData/ LoadData functions or manage offline data with the complex collections.
Using normal Power Fx formulas, you can build the app and the offline feature handles the rest of all the other work.
In this article, will explain the process to enable the Dataverse Offline (Experimental feature) in the Canvas Apps.
- Click on the below article link and create a Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome Profile.
- Click on the below article link to create Power Apps Trial 30 days or if you have already have an Powers Apps Tenant, skip this step.
Follow the below steps after Pre-Requisites.
Step 1: Click here to Open Power Apps Maker Portal in the new browser profile, created in the Prerequisites.
If you are using US GCC Cloud, then follow the below article for Power Apps Maker Portal URL.
Step 2: Choose the required Environment.
Step 3: Click on Blank App.
Step 4: Click on Blank canvas app – Create.
Step 5: Provide App name and Choose the Format. Click on Create.
Step 6: Click on Settings.
Step 7: Click on Support.
Step 8: Click on Authoring Version – Edit.
Note: Click here to know more about the Authoring version.
Step 9: Choose the available Authoring version 3.23052 or the available versions greater than 3.23052 and these versions will be available based on the Environment’s region.
Step 10: Click on Reload + apply version.
Step 11: Click on Save to save the App pending changes.
App Save is in progress.
Once the App is saved, Power Apps page will be reloaded.
Step 12: Click on Settings.
Step 13: Click on Upcoming features.
Step 14: Click on Experimental features.
Step 15: Search for Dataverse Offline.
Step 16: Click on Dataverse offline to Turn On.
Step 17: Click on X.
Step 18: Click on Save.
Save is in progress.
App is saved successfully.
Dataverse Offline feature is enabled successfully, and you can start building the Apps connecting to the Dataverse and Test the Offline functionality.
Note: Experimental features are not for Production use and do not deploy any apps containing experimental features in higher environments.
