Boost your productivity with timeline enhancements

Users across Power Apps and Dynamics 365 apps rely on the timeline to quickly understand the history of a record, such as an account or a case. The timeline captures notes, appointments, emails, phone calls, and tasks in a single place to ensure that all customer interactions are tracked and visible over time. 

We are excited to share the latest enhancements in the timeline control. Layout personalization and persistent filters to inline attachment and transcript views are designed to boost user personalization and productivity. 

Personalize your timeline

Pick your layout density

We are introducing two different layouts to control the density of the timeline:  

Roomy: The roomy layout provides more space between and inside the activity cards and shows activity-specific cards and the command bar.

Cozy: The cozy layout removes the extra space in activity cards. This helps agents spend less time scrolling and view more content on the screen. 

Users can toggle between layouts by clicking the More commands ellipsis on the top-right of timeline and picking their preferred option under the Display layout menu. 

Remember your filters across sessions

The Remember my filters command allows filters to persist when the agent closes the record. This way, agents can continue using filters across sessions, saving valuable time and extra clicks. 

Increase discoverability with inline attachments 

Quickly view a list of attachments and inline files

Agents can quickly view a list of all images and files on notes inline. The activity card also displays a remaining image file count in case of multiple attachments for quick discovery of the contents of the note. 

This enhancement to the timeline layout helps you quickly browse through notes and their attachments and determine if you are looking for a piece of information in the right place. 

Preview an attachment on the timeline without downloading 

Agents can preview a file attachment right from the timeline as a pop-up. They don’t have to navigate to a different tab or form or download the file. This reduces the time and clicks it takes to catch up on the customer history.
