A reminder for data clean-up when migrating from NAV to Business Central Saas

Hello All!

I would like to call attention to those that are attempting migrations from NAV to Business Central Saas.  We have seen some issues with code fields that contain non-printing characters such as leading/trailing spaces, new line characters and tabulations to name a few.  These were supported on very old version of NAV, but current platforms do not support these characters and cause issues if attempted to pass these on thru the migration process.

To alleviate this issue, I would like to call attention to the following information:

Invoke-NAVSanitizeField (Microsoft.Dynamics.Nav.Management) – Dynamics NAV | Microsoft Docs

If you invoke the function as described in the link above before you attempt to run the Cloud Migration, you can remove the non-printing characters from the code fields.  As with all migrations, any clean-up or data changes done before the process starts will lead to a more successful migration process.  We hope this information helps.

Warm Regards,
